Getting Started: A Hands-On Tutorial
THIS CHAPTER IS A STEP-BY-STEP TUTORIAL DESIGNED TO

help you learn the basics of using your Apple IIGS. When you've completed this chapter, you'll be ready to put your computer to work.

This chapter assumes that you've already set up your computer system; if you haven't, turn to Chapter 1 and follow the setup instructions there. Before you begin the tutorial, make sure you have the following disks at hand: Your Tour of the Apple IIGS, the Apple IIGS System Disk, and the Apple IIGS System Tools disk.

You can take a break from the tutorial any time you like; for convenience, the tutorial is divided into five sessions. It doesn't hurt to leave the computer switched on while you take a break—though if you won't be using the computer later the same day, you might want to switch it off to conserve energy.
