3. If you wish, open the Trash Icon to see what's inside.
Click the Trash icon to select it, and then choose Open from the File menu. A window named Trash appears, and the Tutorial folder icon is inside. (The Tutorial folder has been removed from the Practice window but has not yet been discarded.)

4. Choose Empty Trash from the Special menu.
The Tutorial icon disappears from the Trash window, and the Trash icon no longer bulges. (The Tutorial folder has now been discarded.)

Items you drag to the Trash will not necessarily remain there until you choose Empty Trash. Certain actions on your part—such as dragging something else to the Trash or ejecting the disk that contained an item in the Trash—will cause the Finder to empty the Trash. In addition, the Finder may empty the Trash at its convenience.

For that reason, don't leave items in the Trash if you think you may

want to recover them later.

5. Close the Trash window.
Choose Close from the Special menu.

You've now learned all the basic Finder skills. The final session teaches you about the Control Panel, a program that lets you customize a variety of features on your Apple IIGS.
