If the disks once worked, and now don't .......
Assuming you've looked after them (no damage or rogue magnetic fields from vacuum
cleaners, TV tubes, telephones etc. etc.)... you probably have disk-media deterioration.
Over time, ambient moisture gets into old 5.25 floppies and kills tracks.
Not much can be done once they're past that point.
That's why creating .dsk etc. images (early) is vital to preserve your A2 gems for posterity.
All those old floppies go to dead-disk-gulch sooner or later.
