IIGS in IIe's clothing?

I own a computer shop that recycles old hardware. I thought I've seen it all, but the other day someone dropped off an old Apple IIGS, but it's in a IIe case. I've seen quite a few IIGS come through, but never in a IIe case. The sticker on the bottom looks like a factory tag and it reads "Apple IIGS Upgrade".

Can anyone tell me anything about this? It's kind of neat, with the monitor, dual 5-1/4 drive unit, 3.5" floppy and it fires up -- I may stick it in the front window with the old Kapro lugable.
